Transformation of office space into a new city centre restaurant, as part of a larger roll-out programme.

We have been involved in a roll-out of restaurant outlets for Five Guys, a US burger chain who has experienced a rapid expansion programme across the UK.

Our involvement comprises structural modifications and re-modelling such as the design of a new mezzanine in an existing building or unit, and agreeing all the structural works with all parties.

Locations include city and town centre high streets, railway stations such as New Street and Kings Cross, and shopping centres including the Metro Centre and Trafford Centre.

Five Guys in Newcastle-upon-Tyne involved the conversion of first-floor office space into the main seating area for a new restaurant in the centre of the city.

The project required the challenging removal of existing precast concrete facing panels on a multi-storey building, originally constructed in the 1970s, replacing the brutalist cladding with a full storey height glass façade to create a light and open experience for diners.

We worked closely with the architects to produce a structural solution that avoided columns behind the glazed façade, maximising the amount of natural light entering the building.
