Derby Market Hall, Derby

Value - £6m | Client - Wates

Transformation of a beautiful Grade II Listed building into a modern, vibrant and bustling retail and community space.

We are appointed as MEP consultants on this exciting scheme to transform the beautiful Grade II Listed building into a modern, vibrant and bustling market.

The plans to transform the historic market are part of the city centre masterplan, and the improved market will be a key retail and community hub in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter. Funding for the scheme has come from the Government’s Future High Street Fund.

We are working with Wates on phase one to provide natural ventilation on the market hall. Phase two will include MEP design for the ancillary rooms and restaurant.

Once complete, the market hall will become home to new food and drink-themed markets, a ‘make-and-trade’ zone for new entrepreneurs and space for events and activities.

Testimonial:

“The Market Hall project is of huge importance to us in Derby and we’re delighted to have Wates looking after the refurbishment. The work to the roof marks another step to reaching our goal of this landmark, historic building becoming a key destination for residents, businesses and visitors to the city and providing a memorable and enjoyable experience for customers.”
