Walton Hospital, Liverpool
Value - £31m | Client - Kier Construction
A large new build and refurbishment scheme accomplished whilst in a live hospital environment.
The scheme, for Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, included MEP engineering design and BREEAM services for works on an existing building and the delivery of a new building.
Careful consideration was given to the phasing and sequencing of works to enable space to be made available to facilitate the necessary refurbishment, whilst the hospital remained in full operation.
During the early stages of works we were responsible for reviewing plant and space requirements and infrastructure loads, and setting a BREEAM strategy for the project.
We continued to provide BREEAM and AP services along with a call-off monitoring role.
As part of the work, seven extensions were added to the existing building, with consideration given to determine how the existing MEP services could be altered, amended, and extended to serve the facilities and remodelled areas, without causing disruption.
