Refurbishment of a Grade 2 Listed city centre building to deliver a modern new workspace.

Located in the Northern Quarter area of the city, this late 19th century building was originally a trade warehouse.

The building is being refurbished to deliver a modern workspace, while embracing its historic features and charming character throughout the building.

Providing 28,666sqft of office accommodation over four floors, the new workspace will include communal meeting rooms and break-out areas, showers and cycle storage.

For this project, we were responsible for providing comprehensive civil, structural, and building services engineering design. Additionally, we undertook temporary works design to ensure a seamless transition throughout the refurbishment process.

Our scope of work encompassed the following key aspects; the refurbishment and alterations to the upper floors for Cat A office use accommodation, the introduction of two new lifts and shafts to serve the ground to the top floor, new pavement level access from Newton Street improving the overall accessibility of the building, formation of new openings through the party walls, and repairs to the floor beams, masonry and timber window lintels.

The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2024.
