Plans for Pestana Hotel Group's new luxury hotel development in Manchester city centre have just secured planning approval.

The proposed new 151-bedroom hotel, located on a prominent site between the Northern Quarter and Piccadilly Gardens, is being delivered by Eastern Green Limited.

Working with architects FCBStudios, Clancy is providing civil and structural engineering and geoenvironmental services on the scheme, which is situated within the Stevenson Square Conservation Area.

The £27m project includes the redevelopment of the Grade II Listed Halls Building at 69-75 Piccadilly. The unoccupied property, 67 Piccadilly, will be demolished and replaced with a new 11-storey tower.

The four-star boutique hotel will feature a rooftop bar overlooking Piccadilly Gardens. The scheme will include new retail and leisure units at ground floor level, a basement gym, along with public realm improvements on Newton Street.

The hotel will be named Pestana CR7 Manchester, after former Manchester United player, Cristiano Ronaldo, and will be operated by Portuguese hotelier Pestana. This will be the seventh of the chain’s CR7 branded hotels. The ‘high end lifestyle hotel’ is expected to open in 2023.

Graham Ellis, Divisional Director, Clancy Consulting said, “Our relationship with landowner Eastern Green stems from over 20 years ago, so we're delighted to see this exciting regeneration project progress.”
