Burchester Court extra care completes

Located at Winchester Avenue on the Nunsthorpe Estate in Grimsby, Burchester Court brings high quality and much-needed new homes to the region.

This new extra care scheme will provide an independent living option for local residents aged over 55, with the first residents due to move into their new apartments before Christmas.

The three-storey building comprises 60 one and two-bedroom apartments. Each apartment features open plan living space with a full height window in the main living area, a contemporary kitchen and a stylish bathroom. The extra care accommodation provides security, privacy and independence to residents, with reassurance of 24-hour on-site care and support facilities as required.

Working in partnership with Esh Construction, Clancy Consulting provided civil and structural engineering design services along with details for external works and drainage.

Burchester Court is the first extra care development in Grimsby for Living Plus, which is part of the Places for People Group. The scheme has been delivered in partnership with Morgan Sindall Later Living, North East Lincolnshire CCG and Homes England.

Along with on-site domiciliary care and support, the new development will also see the residents benefit from a Garden City café, a hair and beauty salon, communal lounges and gardens for socialising, as well as a guest suite for family or friends to stay overnight.

Stuart Leslie, Divisional Director at Esh Construction, said: “We are proud to have delivered this fantastic new extra care facility in Grimsby, providing high quality and much-needed new homes to enable people to live independently with onsite care and support. It has been a pleasure to work with the partners on this scheme and we would like to thank the team for working in true collaboration to overcome the difficulties faced as a result of these unprecedented times.”

Clancy Consulting Divisional Director, Michael Crown, commented: “Clancy has a wealth of experience in this sector and we’re pleased to have been working in collaboration with Esh Construction and their team once again in the delivery of another first class accommodation scheme. I’m sure the residents will be thrilled to be moving into their new homes in time for Christmas.”

Andy Lomas of Living Plus, said: “We have a proven track record in creating homes of mixed tenure across the country and I am delighted that we have been able to apply our expertise in Grimsby, establishing our first development in the town and creating new homes for people who need them.”

Laurence Basturkmen, Director at Morgan Sindall Later Living, concluded: “Reaching practical completion at Burchester Court is a fantastic milestone for Morgan Sindall Later Living, its partners and for those looking for extra care accommodation in the North East Lincolnshire area.

“Extra care schemes such as this provide residents and their families with complete reassurance and peace of mind that they are living in a safe, self-contained yet engaging environment, where they can meet like-minded people and enjoy life, but where they can get the support and professional care they need, if and when required.”
