Plans submitted by The English Cities Fund (ECF) have been approved for a new residential scheme in Salford, located on a vacant car park site off Peru Street.

The new development will comprise 100 high-quality, one- and two-bedroomed homes within a five and six-storey building.

This is the second scheme we are involved with in the broader £2.5bn Salford Crescent masterplan, a 252-acre regeneration initiative being delivered by ECF in partnership with Salford City Council and the University of Salford.

Working with Muse, we are responsible for the civil and structural engineering design, having earlier completed the intrusive ground investigations and provided geoenvironmental services on this heavily used brownfield site.

Designed by architects Buttress, the homes have been designed to be Passivhaus certified, which aims to reduce properties' energy consumption by around 90% compared to traditional design and construction methods.

The development will encourage sustainable transport options by offering a variety of transport connections within walking distance, along with storage for 100 bikes.

Daniel Singh, Clancy Divisional Director commented, “This is the latest in several high-profile schemes that we are currently engaged on across Salford and Greater Manchester. It’s great news that the project has been awarded planning permission and we’re proud to be involved with a scheme which is supporting the Council’s ambition to create more affordable homes in Salford to benefit the local community.”

The project is expected to commence on site early in 2024.
