Clancy Consulting is pleased to announce the appointment of Kay Elvy as a new Associate based at the Norwich office.

Kay joins the practice having previously worked at Create Consulting, Pinnacle Consulting Engineers, Pick Everard, Mott MacDonald and, most recently, BHA Consulting where she was co-owner and director for eight years.

With over 20 years’ experience in the civil engineering profession, Kay is an incorporated civil engineer with extensive expertise in civil engineering design for residential developments, schools, commercial and industrial new builds, extensions, conversion works, as well as infrastructure, highways design, and civil engineering works.

Kay stated, “Throughout my career I have worked with a diverse range of clients on various projects, developing drainage strategies that include Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) in compliance with increasingly stringent legislation. This evolving landscape keeps my work both varied and challenging and is something I’m looking forward to continuing at Clancy.”

Her career began as an aircraft engineer in the Royal Air Force where she was responsible for the servicing and maintenance of various aircraft, including the Boeing 747, Tornado, Harrier, and Hawk.

After 13 years’ service, she transitioned to civil engineering studying part-time over seven years to earn a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Anglia Ruskin University. Kay completed her ICE training and gained IEng soon after graduating.

Kay is passionate about mentoring and has been an ICE mentor for engineers, graduates, and apprentices, assisting them in progressing to full ICE membership.

Oliver Matthews, Divisional Director at Clancy’s Norwich office, commented, “As we embark on a period of expansion in our workload across East Anglia, Kay’s arrival will significantly strengthen our team with her extensive civil engineering knowledge and expertise.”

“With several major projects in progress, including the Hawthorns and Sir Geoff Hurst schools, the new Construction Skills Centre for City College Norwich, and continued collaborations with the University of East Anglia, we are well-positioned to expand our offering and continue to deliver sustainable engineering solutions to our clients.”
