Muirkirk Primary School & Early Childhood Centre

Value - £5m | Client - Ashleigh (Scotland) Ltd

A new, energy efficient primary school, offering early years and community facilities.

A new primary school, early childhood centre and community facility, for East Ayrshire Council.

Clancy provided civil and structural engineering design services as well as mechanical and electrical engineering design services, working with Ashleigh Building.

The design embraced BIM, with 3D models of the structural steel frame and foundations prepared and integrated with the architectural model in line with East Ayrshire Council’s requirements.

The completed building is extremely energy efficient and has been assessed with an ‘A’ energy rating.

The school and community were involved throughout the design and build process with local people also having been employed on the construction works. A meeting with the headteacher during construction proved to be very productive and resulted in the sharing of staff ideas for use of the fabulous break out spaces. The inclusive nature of the design process continued to the end with school children also being invited to design part of the external play area.

Testimonial:

“A very professional business and brand. Clancy is acknowledged in the southwest and Glasgow as one of the leading engineering consultants. They’re a very proactive team – whether it’s cost-driven solutions or buildability. It’s a very collaborative approach.”
