Cemex Climafuel Store Building, Rugby

Value - £15m | Client - Cemex

An award-winning new waste to energy scheme, becoming one of the most modern cement plants in the world.

This is a new waste to energy scheme for Cemex at their site in Rugby, Warwickshire. CEMEX's Rugby Works is one of the most modern cement plants in the world, and the largest kiln in the UK.

The new large single span processing plant building enables Cemex to expand their facilities for the production of concrete materials and also supplies them with a new storage building.

The facility, approximately 32m in span and 21m high, consists of a single span braced steel building with roof trusses, multiple floor levels, cranes & basements. The building houses concrete pits for storage and distribution by overhead grab cranes. In addition, the scheme also includes a new extension to the packing plant along with road layout modifications.

The project has recently celebrated winning the Industrial Projects Award at the UK Tekla Awards 2021. These awards create an opportunity to showcase projects modelled using Tekla software within the UK and Ireland. They recognise and promote the skill, expertise, innovation, and pride that Tekla users put into their work.

Submitted by steel construction specialists, Robinson Structures, the project was published on the Tekla website alongside competing schemes, and the public were invited to vote in the Public Choice Awards.
