Green light for Ralli Quays scheme in Salford’s New Bailey district

Article posted on: 21 January 2022

The proposal for a Grade A office accommodation and a 16-storey 4* hotel in Salford secured planning approval at this week’s planning committee meeting.

Situated on the banks of the River Irwell in Salford, the scheme occupies a strategic location overlooking Manchester’s city centre. The development involves the demolition of the existing 1990s office building to make way for the exciting new scheme, which will incorporate a 212,000sqft office and a 280-bedroom hotel.

Being delivered by Legal & General Investment, the development forms part of the wider £650m regeneration of the New Bailey district.

The forward-thinking scheme will incorporate exemplary sustainability credentials, with reduced energy demand and renewable energy sources. Clancy is providing structural, civil and geoenvironmental engineering design services. As part of the design process, the Clancy team has undertaken detailed studies into the amount of embodied carbon within the sub-structure and structural frame, developing the optimum structural solution for the scheme.

Clancy Director, Chris Acton, commented, “We’re thrilled that the scheme has been awarded planning permission. This is one of several high-profile developments that we are working on with L&G, where the sustainability and carbon credentials of the scheme are not only high on the agenda but crucial to the success of the project. It’s a perfect fit for us as a business, with our own target set of becoming net zero."
