Clancy at 50. A year of activities.

This year we’ve been celebrating our 50-year anniversary by hosting a series of activities and fundraising events right across the UK.

From bike rides to bowling, 50km coast walks to kiltwalks, sleepouts, bake-offs and live music nights, check out below what the team has been up to during the year.

We have been fundraising throughout the year for national mental health and wellness charity Mind, and a number of smaller charities, chosen by each of our regional teams.

 
  • Birmingham

    Clancy Active, 13th May - complete

    The team and their guests took on 40-mile bike ride around south Staffordshire and Shropshire.

    Drinks Reception, 23rd June - complete

    Our annual drinks reception returned to the Cube in the centre of Birmingham.

    Live Music Night, 7th September - complete

    Scott and the team hosted a live music charity evening at the Actress and Bishop, with music from Under Construction and a raffle.

    Local beneficiary:

    Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Raising vital funds needed to make a real difference to children and their families, because every patient deserves a childhood.

  • Glasgow & Prestwick

    Glasgow Kiltwalk, 24th April - complete

    Members of the team took part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk on the 14.5 mile Big Stroll. The team raised an amazing £2437!

    The Heb, 3rd September - complete

    Neil Orrock took on ‘The Heb’, a running, cycling and kayaking event held over two days.

    Great Scottish Run, 2nd October - complete

    Neil, Vicki, Marion, Ross, Max and Anael took on the Great Scottish 10k run and Caroline ran the half marathon! Any sponsorship would be gratefully received here.

    Local beneficiaries:

    Alzheimer Scotland. Scotland’s dementia charity.

    Blood Cancer UK. Because research will beat blood cancer.

  • Leeds

    Drinks Reception, 16th February - complete

    The Leeds team hosted their annual drinks reception at Dakota Hotel in Leeds. The event kicked off the 50th anniversary celebrations and raised over £600 on the evening!

    Clancy Active, 13th May - complete

    The team and their guests enjoyed a guided tour around York.

    Crypt Factor, 30th June - complete

    We hosted a table and had a fantastic evening at the Crypt Factor. The event typically welcomes a 900-strong audience from the North of England’s property and construction industries descend on Elland Road to raise vast sums of money for local charities St George’s Crypt and The Leeds Fund.

    Yorkshire Day Raffle, 1st August - complete

    To celebrate Yorkshire Day, we raffled a stunning hand-drawn sketch of York by well-renowned architect and artist, David Ryan.

    Local beneficiary:

    St Georges Crypt. A Leeds based charity offering care, compassion and hope to the homeless, the vulnerable and those suffering from substance dependence.

  • Liverpool

    Grand National, 7th April - complete

    The team and their guests attended Liverpool's NHS Day at Aintree Racecourse.

    Clancy Active, 13th May - complete

    The team took a hike to Hilbre Island in West Kirby.

    Tough Mudder, 10th September - complete

    Members of the Clancy team from Liverpool and Manchester took on Tough Mudder.

    Local beneficiaries:

    Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. Providing highly specialist cancer care to a population of 2.4m people across Cheshire, Merseyside and the surrounding areas, including the Isle of Man, with three specialist cancer centres in Liverpool city centre.

    Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. The only UK lung cancer charity dedicated to helping everyone affected by the disease.

  • London & Reading

    SleepOut, 10th March - complete

    Sukh and members of the team took part in SleepOut for LandAid, spending the night outdoors to raise funds for LandAid and the vital work they do in delivering life-changing services for young people.

    Teams in Manchester and Birmingham also took part in this event, and together they raised an incredible £4,000 for LandAid.

    Members of the team from London and Reading took on a challenging walk at the Box Hill Trail in Surrey.

    Local beneficiaries:

    LandAid. Working to end to youth homelessness in the UK.

    St Mungo’s. Ending homelessness, rebuilding lives. St Mungo’s outreach teams go out each night to meet people who are homeless and to help them off the streets.

    Engineers for Overseas Development. Focused on developing young professionals in the UK Construction Industry by challenging members to plan and manage construction projects to alleviate poverty in Sub Saharan Africa.

  • Manchester

    Clancy Active, 13th May - complete

    Back for its seventh year, over 60 riders took on the 35/60 mile bike ride around the Cheshire countryside and Peak District.

    Tough Mudder, 10th September - complete

    Members of the Clancy team from Liverpool and Manchester took on Tough Mudder.

    Drinks Reception, 1st December - complete

    The Manchester team hosted their 50th anniversary drinks reception at Cloud 23 in Manchester.

    Local beneficiaries:

    The Christie Charity. Providing enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds, making a difference to the care and treatment that The Christie is able to provide to our patients and their families.

    Children’s Adventure Farm Trust. For terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children in the North West.

  • Newcastle

    Clancy Active, 13th May - complete

    The team enjoyed a walk from Dunstanburgh to Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland.

    Local beneficiaries:

    The Children’s Foundation. Improving the health and well-being of children and young people from birth to 18 in the North East by Making Serious Stuff Fun.

  • Norwich

    The Great Clancy Bake-Off, 6th April - complete

    We challenged our colleagues and neighbours for The Great Clancy Bake-off, to see who could bake the best biscuits or rustle up a batch of their finest cupcakes. The team raised £215.

    Clancy Active, 13th May - complete

    It was an early start for the team as they caught the 5am train to Great Yarmouth to take on the East Coast 50km Stagger!

    Bowling Night, 24th November - complete

    The return of the Clancy Charity Bowling Night. 10 teams of industry friends and colleagues joined us to compete for the coveted trophy.

    Local beneficiaries:

    Nelson’s Journey. Supporting children and young people in Norfolk who’ve experienced the death of a significant person.

    Sue Lambert Trust. Providing kind, safe, supportive help in Norfolk to those who have ever experienced sexual abuse and domestic abuse.
