Senior Structural Engineer – Building Appraisal, Manchester
Location - Manchester
Our successful team in Manchester require an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to accompany them on a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects.
To work effectively in this role, you must establish yourself as a key leader in the team, fully using your leadership and mentoring skills to develop and guide junior engineers and maintain excellent customer relationships. Additionally, you must have the necessary knowledge and experience to independently undertake competent appraisals of a diverse range of structures including buildings of all types to assess their structural condition and continued stability. This will involve identifying defects or damage, diagnosing its cause, often employing both intrusive investigation and non-destructive testing techniques, of which you should have a sound understanding, before designing a repair solution and managing the repair process.
Role and responsibilities
Apply a sound knowledge of design principles to help you to diagnose the cause of defects before designing a solution and then managing the repair process.
Inspect and assess domestic, commercial, industrial and historic buildings.
Arrange and undertake investigations using general contractors and other specialists.
Prepare and present well-detailed reports.
Work independently and provide clear, concise, justified conclusions.
Prepare structural calculations and drawings. Prepare contract document, either with or without the assistance of a QS.
Offer leadership, mentoring and motivation to junior engineers.
Carry out professional development and maintain ongoing training records in accordance with ICE or IStructE requirements.
Software capabilities
AutoCAD, Tekla, and Autodesk Revit.
Qualifications
Chartership or working towards chartership with either Institution of Civil or Structural Engineering.
