Winner at the Norfolk Constructing Excellence Awards 2017

We had a great evening at the OPEN, Norwich for the recent Norfolk Constructing Excellence Awards 2017, celebrating fantastic projects across the eastern region.

We are extremely proud to have won the Preservation and Rejuvenation category for our structural forensic engineering services on the development of a five-year concrete preservation plan and specification for the University of East Anglia (UEA). This included the UEA’s famous Ziggurats student accommodation. This category recognises the high standards in repair, re-use and revitalisation, which we are delighted to exhibit through our work on the historic listed buildings and campus walkways.

In 1962, Denys Lasdun was appointed by the University of East Anglia as their founding Architect and designer of the core buildings. At that time, the UEA design was considered a brave new world in architectural concepts and modern thinking.

Our services on the refurbishment included work to preserve and rejuvenate the fifty-year-old concrete, waterproofing, drainage design and improvements to the safety of the elevated walkways. It was great working in collaboration with the UEA estates team, Real Consulting; the project management team, RHP Partnership; architects and Volkerlaser; contractors, to revitalise Lasdun’s vision and preserve it for future generations of students and staff.

Congratulations to all the winners and many thanks to the Norfolk Constructing Excellence Club for another well organised event.
