Wyndford Energy Centre, Glasgow
Wyndford Energy Centre houses central heating plant which has the capacity to provide hot water to over 600 properties on the Wyndford Estate.
This new build energy centre was required to be built to a tight programme to allow the mechanical fit-out and commissioning period to tie in with an overall project of new heating distribution pipework within the estate. This was achieved through close collaboration between client, design team and all sub-contractors.
The bespoke Energy Centre comprises a 1.2MW CHP engine and a thermal store with a capacity of 120,000 litres. Three 4500kW gas boilers provide back-up and peak load heat requirements.
The electricity generated by the CHP engine is exported to the local electricity grid. The CHP system takes away the need for each home to have an individual boiler making it an affordable and energy-efficient way of heating homes.
