Walton Hospital, Liverpool
The project comprised of works in an existing building (Arizona 1) and a new build (Arizona 2).
The new build scheme was delivered via the NHS ProCure21+ framework.
During early stages of the works we provided both M&E and BREEAM advice to facilitate general arrangement layouts to be provided to the pricing P21 Contractors.
We were responsible for reviewing plant and space requirements, infrastructure loads and set a BREEAM strategy for the project.
Following appointment of the P21 Contractor we continued to provide BREEAM and AP services, plus a call off monitoring role as and when required.
The Walton Centre is a live operation hospital with no unoccupied space and existing facilities being run to full capacity.
During the early planning stages it was clear that one of the key issues was to avoid disruption of the clinical activities. Careful consideration was given to the phasing and sequences of works to enable space to be made available to facilitate the necessary refurbishment.
This exercise resulted in the early construction of an extension and the provision of a temporary modular building for use while the refurbishment and new build works were undertaken.
