King’s Tower, Sheffield
King’s Tower is a new 39-storey, high-rise residential block located in the centre of Sheffield.
Supporting the regeneration of the area, the PRS tower is to be constructed on a tight city centre site, with basement levels extending below adjacent buildings. Clancy Consulting has provided civil and structural design for the scheme.
The development involves demolition of the existing building on the site. The 117m tall tower will include commercial accommodation at the basement, ground and mezzanine levels, with residential accommodation occupying the 38 floors above.
Designed by award-winning architects Hodder+Partners, the scheme will feature 206 1-, 2-bed and duplex apartments.
Due to the height and geometry of the building the scheme will require a full wind tunnel analysis to provide wind loading data for the design of the building and also for pedestrian comfort levels in the areas around the building.
The scheme has recently secured planning approval and is set to be the highest building on the Sheffield skyline.
