Helensburgh Waterfront Development
Clancy Consulting is working with Darnton B3 Architects on Argyll and Bute Council’s new £22m Leisure Centre, in the scenic waterfront town of Helensburgh, Scotland.
The vision for the new leisure development and its surroundings is to provide a modern and fresh environment, creating a positive impact on the community and attracting new people to the area.
The Helensburgh Waterfront Development comprises the demolition and replace of the existing swimming pool facility, with associated parking and coach drop-off, as well as public realm works to meet the needs of the local community and attract day visitors to the town.
The project comprises a new build six lane, 25m swimming pool with 150 spectator capacity, along with enhanced public facilities incorporating changing rooms, lockers and showers. The facility also incorporates a gymnasium, fitness studios, meeting rooms and catering facilities.
Serving the facility, a new improved car park is being incorporated with improved access and new creative public spaces, walkways, artistic lighting, soft landscaping and artwork around the pierhead. The pierhead itself is being protected by new flood defences to protect the leisure centre for 1:200yr plus climate change flood events.
Clancy is providing multi-disciplinary specialist design and advisory services in close collaboration with the integrated design team to help manage the interface with the wider public realm and pier works.
