Carbon Capture & Utilisation Plant – Tata Chemicals Europe

We are responsible for the provision of site investigation, geotechnical assessment and detailed Civil and Structural design, for what will be the UK’s largest carbon capture and utilisation facility when it begins operating in 2021.

The 40,000 sq ft plant will be constructed on a 1.8-acre plot at Tata Chemicals Europe’s Northwich site in Cheshire.

The plant, where works are well underway, is designed to remove carbon dioxide from the company’s emissions. The gas would then be purified and liquefied for use in the sites manufacturing process of sodium bicarbonate.

The scheme supports the UK’s target to bring all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050.
