Belle Vue Sports Village, Manchester
Construction of the new Belle Vue Sports Village commenced in January 2015 and the development, which is on the site of the previous Belle Vue Leisure Centre in Manchester, provides a range of world class sporting facilities to Manchester.
Clancy Consulting provided MEP performance design services, for the Design and Build Procurement of the M&E sub-contractor and Thermal Modelling.
This development sees new leisure facilities and a National Basketball Performance Centre, together with a National Speedway Stadium. The facilities provide numerous sports and leisure opportunities for the local community, as well as hosting major sports events.
The redeveloped leisure centre also includes badminton, netball, cricket and volleyball facilities and continues to provide a sports hall, dance studio, fitness suite, school changing rooms and a classroom.
A range of facilities have been developed including: modernisation of the existing Belle Vue Leisure Centre, the National Speedway Stadium, National Speedway Academy, 2,000 capacity National Basketball Performance Centre and two 3G all-weather artificial grass pitches.
The stadium is the home of the Belle Vue Aces Speedway team (BVA) with hospitality and exhibition areas. Allowing for a maximum capacity of 6,000 attendees, and incorporating a 1,800-seater grandstand the stadium has the latest built-in noise-reduction measures and has been built to international league standard. Additionally the facility incorporates a brand new Academy and acts as a centre of excellence, nurturing the next generation of riders.
As part of the development there is a new Basketball Performance Centre which offers playing opportunities to all ages of the community as well as being a hub for England Basketball’s National Teams. The facility includes three state of the art courts and a retractable spectator capacity to seat up to 2,000 people.
