BSc(Hons) CEng MICE
Neil is one of the Directors in the Scottish Region, based in the Prestwick office.
He is responsible for coordinating civil and structural engineering projects undertaken by the Prestwick office in Scotland and also in Northern Ireland.
He has been working as a Consulting Engineer since leaving Strathclyde Regional Council in 1989 with a BSc(Hons) in Civil Engineering, initially with Derick Sampson and Partners in Ayr, from 1989 to 2000. He achieved Chartered Engineer status in 1992, and worked on a variety of civil/structural projects.
Neil moved to the Telecoms sector in 2000 and joined Patrick Farfan Associates as a Structural Engineer initially, moving on to become Regional Manager for Scotland and Ireland in 2004. He was involved in all aspects of the project design process and administration of the Scottish Region.
Neil returned to Civil/Structural Consultancy in 2007, when he joined Hodgins Smith Partnership 2007, and became a Partner in 2008. HSP became part of Clancy Consulting in July 2010.
Neil has been involved in a wide variety of civil and structural engineering projects over the years, with values ranging from £1,000 to £25,000,000, including the design of steel and concrete structures, multi-storey concrete and steel framed buildings, access roads and drainage works for housing developments, private housing, commercial buildings, piled foundations for new buildings, underpinning works for existing buildings and reinforced earth retaining structures, and also undertaking structural inspections of existing buildings and preparation of Reports for Local Authorities and Development Companies. Additionally responsible for managing all engineering matters associated with projects, including liaising directly with Clients, Local Authorities and Contractors.
Outwith work, Neil’s main interests are sport, with rugby a particular favourite, and motorsport (F1 and MotoGP). He is also a keen motorcyclist, and enjoys hill walking.
