With ten offices across the UK Clancy Consulting has grown over its 49 years in business to become a highly regarded multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, delivering local knowledge and national expertise to our broad client base.

Founded by Brian Clancy in 1972 in south Manchester, and formerly trading under The Brian Clancy Partnership, the business initially focused on providing civil and structural engineering services in the North West region. Following a steady growth period the firm expanded with the opening of offices in London, Liverpool and Newcastle. Many of the clients that entrusted their work to the firm in those earlier years remained clients to this date becoming close friends of the firm as much as clients.

In the late 1980s and following much encouragement from clients, the firms range of expertise was extended by the addition of Building Services resulting in the ability to offer a multi-discipline engineering service to clients.

In 1999 the original partnership was incorporated and in 2000 the present trading style of Clancy Consulting Ltd was adopted.

A Birmingham office was opened in 2004 followed by Norwich and Reading in 2005, the latter being the result of the acquisition of the Baldock Quick Partnership.

Since 2005 we have enjoyed a joint venture in Mumbai, India with local firm AKG Consulting, trading as Clancy Global.

In 2010 the further acquisition of the Hodgins Smith Partnership resulted in offices being established in both Glasgow and Prestwick.

During the period 2011-2016 we had a project office in Muscat, Oman trading as Saba Clancy.

The company opened it’s 10th regional office in Leeds in September 2017.

Most recently, in April 2021, the business acquired DBM Consultants, strengthening it’s Timber Engineering offering in Scotland.

In 2012 we celebrated our 40th year in business and undertook a number of fundraising activities.


Recently we have been involved in fundraising activities for Alzheimer’s Society, Red-R and The British Heart Foundation.

Working within the community

We believe we help make a difference by engaging with our communities. We support local education and charities in terms of time and resources. Our staff regularly participate in education initiatives both within local schools and in our offices, and fundraise for a large number of local and national charity events. In 2012 as part of our 40th anniversary we completed a number of fundraising events for local and national charities raising over £15,000.

Clancy takes a responsible viewpoint on the activities we embark on, both in the work we do for our clients and the way we work in our own environment. Our Environmental Management System is accredited to BS EN ISO 14001:2015 and we continually look to improve both our internal and external environment action plans.

We recognise the importance of a work life balance and how proactively supporting this benefits all. Our staff benefit from the reassurance of flexibility, their health and wellbeing is paramount to the business and we ensure they receive time and support when needed the most. In addition to legislation and contractual benefits, we offer “the little things that matter the most”.
