Experienced Graduate Structural Engineer

As a result of increased workload, we require experienced Graduate Civil / Structural Engineer to work closely with our existing team of Engineers and Technicians.

The role will consist of the preparation of structural design calculations under the supervision of a Senior Engineer. A sound knowledge of Masonry, Concrete, Steel, Timber, together with external works and drainage, and their design will be an essential prerequisite. Similarly, knowledge of UK and Euro design codes is expected.

It is anticipated the role will involve liaising with clients and other construction professionals throughout the design and construction process and excellent communication skills coupled with a personable and professional disposition will be expected.

As part of the day to day duties, it will be necessary to work closely with the rest of the team. The ability to direct and supervise Technicians will be beneficial, as will grounding in the commercial aspects of projects.

From time to time, it will be necessary to assist with the preparation of drawings and knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit would be useful, although not essential.

It is expected that candidates will be registered as Student Members of the Institution of Civil or Structural Engineers. Full mentoring and training will be provided in order to progress the candidate towards Chartered status at the earliest opportunity.

We are currently involved in a large number of projects ranging from small scale refurbishment through to developments with a contract value upwards of £50M and the role will include involvement on the full range of projects in the office.

The position will offer significant opportunity for continued professional development in a multidisciplinary environment.

Experience of Tekla structural designer and Revit is desirable but not essential

Key Tasks/Responsibilities:

  1. Involved in project design from commencement to completion.
  2. Preparing structural design calculations.
  3. Communicating with Technicians and supervising the production of design drawings.
  4. Supporting Senior Engineers in carrying out the project design.

Carrying out Professional Development and maintaining records in accordance with ICE or IStructE requirements in order to progress to Chartered status
