UK’s Largest Energy Sector Project Coal to Biomass Conversion

Located in the Northumberland coastal community of Lynemouth the Power Station has generated electricity from coal since 1972. This year Lynemouth Power Station has been given the go ahead from the Government to become the first power station in the UK to cease coal burning and convert to full biomass supply.
This is the UK’s largest energy sector project underway at the moment and it has recently passed a significant milestone of letting contracts with a number of major contractors.
Clancy Consulting have provided Civil Design Services on the scheme since 2011. We are involved with various aspects of the development, including the transport links in and out of the site and silo storage.
As seen on the image piling has recently started, only another 1600 piles to go!
