Charles Wells Brewery, Bedford
Clancy Consulting were appointed as M&E Service Engineers on the new Charles Wells Brewery project. The client requirement for the scheme was to provide a new build Brewery processing facility with attached three storey office, entertainment and retail space and external seating area which would centralise Charles Wells as a business with this being their flagship site.
Sustainability was a key requirement for the client, particularly within the overall M&E and fabric design. To ensure client aspirations were met we worked closely with the project Architect to ensure building fabric exceeded Building Regulation requirements and also integrated a roof mounted photovoltaic panel system and electrical vehicle chargers to contribute to the overall sustainability of the project.
Being part of the wider infrastructure scheme for the overall site enabled us to add value to this project. As the Brewery is the first development this was considered in the overall site planning strategy and infrastructure provision for future developments has been considered.
For this project, we developed our M&E design using Revit to BIM Level 2 which enabled us to work collaboratively with the Architect and Structural Engineer to produce the design tender package to RIBA Stage 4a for Contractor pricing.
