Anchor Retail Park, Hartlepool

Anchor Retail Park is an existing retail development close to the Marina in Hartlepool, where we have been involved with “cut and carve” work to 3 units at the site.

Unit 4 included structural alterations to accommodate the new tenant, TK Maxx. We were responsible for designing foundations for a new mezzanine within this large portal framed building.

We were involved in the investigations of the existing foundations and ground conditions. We then designed pad foundations to support the structural steelwork mezzanine as well as new steelwork over proposed new openings.

Due to close tolerances required to the ground floor slab remedial works were also required in the form of a proprietary screed carried out by a local subcontractor.

Further work at the site includes another unit with a change of use from Burger King to Frankie and Benny’s. This has involved major cut and carve works, with the unit also being extended. The building is constructed of load bearing masonry and a new timber roof structure to support a new plant deck within the roof void.
