Heritage and conservation specialist, Claudio Corallo, has joined Clancy Consulting’s  London team as Divisional Director.

With over 15 years industry experience, Claudio spent 10 years with historic building specialists, The Morton Partnership, followed by three years with the heritage team at Conisbee, prior to joining Clancy with a remit of working across the South East region.

Holding the specialist heritage and conservation accreditation, CARE, Claudio’s passion for this sector is demonstrated through his involvement with significant schemes including the Canterbury Journey project at Canterbury Cathedral, and the Queen Diamond Jubilee Galleries at Westminster Abbey, an award-winning scheme opened by the Queen in June 2018.

His experience is wide ranging with projects including Listed residential buildings, embassies, historic bridges,  scheduled ancient monuments and UNESCO world heritage sites, in addition to cathedrals and ecclesiastical buildings.

Chartered with both the ICE and IStructE, Claudio also acts as a volunteer caseworker for the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), assisting with sensitive Listed Building Consent and faculty applications.

Claudio comments ”I have a strong passion for everything historic in construction. This includes old building techniques and how these have emerged, evolved, and were perhaps eventually abandoned over the years. So too, how we historically defined and measured structural safety in comparison to our present expectations.

“Making a difference between condemning or saving a historic asset by gaining a deeper understanding of the project and developing an engineering appropriate solution is my fascination. For me, generating solutions where there are no evident ones is a challenge I relish every day.

“I very much look forward to this next chapter of my career with Clancy.”

Sukh Chana, London Director at Clancy said, “The London team has many years’ of experience working in the heritage and conservation sector and securing someone of Claudio’s caliber will significantly strengthen our offering to both new and existing clients.

“As we mark our 50th anniversary in business, the appointment of a second CARE specialist within Clancy reflects our strategic growth plans for the business, and particularly within the South East region, and we offer Claudio a very warm welcome”.
