A new associate joins the Clancy Consulting team in Norwich.

Chartered Engineer Tom Hutchinson is appointed to the civil and structural engineering team following his relocation from London. With in-depth industry knowledge, Tom is focused on delivering projects throughout Norfolk and the wider East Anglia region whilst developing our service offering to new clients.

Tom’s previous role since graduating from Durham University was at Expedition Engineering, a renowned trailblazer and certified B-Corp company in central London. A career milestone in 2019 saw him successfully achieve his Chartership status. Balancing both technical expertise with practical solutions, his projects have included the Olympic-sized Lee Valley Ice Centre, Brent Cross Marketing Pavilion, and more recently the AVA Footbridge which aims to drastically change the way in which footbridges are manufactured and procured.

A strong passion for sustainable design, Tom prides himself on creating buildings and spaces which minimise environmental impact and optimise life-cycle performance.

Greg Scott, Director of the Norwich office at Clancy comments, "With a keen eye for integrated and efficient design, in addition to considerable knowledge about low carbon and regenerative design principles, Tom fits seamlessly with the Clancy ethos to create inspiring places that benefit local communities, while minimising their impact on the planet.

“With geographic growth ambitions planned, it’s an exciting time for Tom to join the team. We are starting to expand our services into Cambridgeshire and Essex, whilst maintaining our existing close links within our home county, and we look forward to Tom being a significant part of this strategy.”

Clancy’s Norwich office is one of the region’s biggest players in the engineering industry, with recent high-profile schemes including the award-winning Digi-Tech Factory at City College Norwich and the new academy facilities at Norwich Football Club. The office also has close links with the University of East Anglia and has previously delivered specialist civil and structural services on the famous Ziggurat buildings.
